Even though I bought this book as soon as it came out, it took me a while to read it. I think the main reason I resisted was because the last book I read by Gabrielle Bernstein had so much food for thought that I felt like I needed the headspace to be ready to read this book.
Eventually I did start the book and then with the manifesting challenge coming up in January I decided I wanted to finish it before it started. The book was deeply thoughtful as expected.

And the people stayed home.
And they listened, and read books, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still.
And they listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.
And the people healed.
And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.
And they read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still.

At the beginning of March we went to see David Walliams’ Billionaire Boy live on stage at DeMontfort Hall. I’ve not read the book but I know my eldest daughter loves his book so I decided to book it and see what happens.

It was fantastic! Spoiler alert in case you’ve not read the book either. It was about a boy whose dad had become rich selling a unique type of toilet paper called bumfresh. Very apt considering the toilet paper shortages at the moment. Only problem was that the boy, Joe was lonely and just wanted a friend and to be normal.
My book review of The Almost Mothers by Laura Besley
I was so pleased to receive a preview copy of this book. The fact that the title had mother in it felt like I would be able to relate to it immediately. With a collection of 26 flash fictions and short stories about the joy, pain and strangeness of being a mother, this was a very interesting book.
A couple of stories were a little futuristic and slightly surreal looking at mothers through aliens eyes or into the future with dire consequences.
Initially, the second story I read shocked me. Calling the baby ‘it’ made me feel uneasy and then leaving ‘it’ in the garage sounded so wrong. I discovered had I read the title I might have guessed what’ it’ was earlier, although by the time I got near the end, everything started making sense.

It feels weird writing about a book in which my story is in because I still feel my writing is not that great. But it is out there and published and I do feel honoured and humbled to share this book with so many excellent writers.

Wow! What a powerful and heart-wrenching book. I read this book on a weekend spa break and was openly crying over the pages. I felt like I was there with Rachel Brathen, feeling her pain as she dealt with the death of the three closest people in her life. At the same time, she had to deal with the fragility of her mum’s life and the heartaches that came with her mum trying to commit suicide several times for various reasons.
They ask you answer: A revolutionary approach to inbound sales, content marketing and today’s digital consumer by Marcus Sheridan. I finally got around to reading this book and it really did live up to its hype. I don’t work in sales or marketing but I do like blogging and writing so I thought it would be useful. This along with the fact that Karen Reyburn of The Profitable Firm recommends this book so much is possibly the only reason that made me even read this book.
I’m not sure why I’m so obsessed with sleep. I’m sure when they are ready they will start sleeping through the night easily. Until they do, I think I will be obsessed with it.
When the girls were babies, I used to love getting the girls ready for bed. A little while after dinner, we would come up, give them a bath, gently wash their hair and then wrap them up in a big towel. Once in the bedroom, I would rub oil or cream and massage it into their chubby little bodies, then put their nappies and nighttime onesies on and then read to them. I would put some music on and then lie with them until they fell asleep. I too would ‘nap’ or fall asleep with them for a bit and then creep out the room trying not to wake them up. Even then some days were better than others but there were more good days.
I love Bollywood films and Bollywood Wives captures this so well! I grew up in an era before the Indian film industry was known as Bollywood. My childhood revolved around Indian film songs and reading Indian filmy magazines such as Cineblitz, stardust and Cineworld (from what I can remember).
