For a while, I thought I had lost my blogging mojo. Before I started this new part time job, I had written a batch of blogs to come out on a weekly basis for about six weeks. Over these six weeks, I then proceeded to do absolutely nothing related to my personal blog. Not only did I not know what to write about, I just didn’t have the time. Two part time jobs and a family to look after does that – unsurprisingly!
Blogging break
After the six weeks were up, I still hadn’t posted anything but I thought a one week break is not so bad. Another week passed and still I hadn’t posted anything. With the third week coming up, I was now getting worried if I was ever going to blog again. However, after thinking about what I wanted my life to look like, I made some difficult changes.
I recently listened to a podcast where Aby Moore, my current blogging idol, said something along the lines of how you don’t want to turn your blog into a job which you have to do. You can only create a business or a blog if you enjoy it. So now I’m focusing on the enjoying part of it.
Blogging Updates
My blog needs a lot of work doing to it. The logo and colours need updating, I need to ensure that I am compliant with GDPR, I should work on finding a niche but that really stresses me out and this is when I need to remember that I am doing this because I love writing. Whether I can find a niche and turn it into a business is something that’s only semi on my radar and for now is not a big priority.
For now, I feel good to be back at my computer writing some blogs without having any restrictions in the way it is written or what I write about. I’ve drafted about 5 blogs today, one of them being a re-purpose style blog. I will if I can carry on blogging here in the way that I choose to. However, with my new part time job, I will need to think twice before I create accounting style blogs for a while.
